Hunting Knife, Cocaine, Heroin, Pills, Marijuana Found In Car

Six people were arrested on drug charges last week in town, according to the police blotter.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Union County man was arrested on weapon and drug charges in Cranford, police report.

On Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m., a 2002 Ford was stopped at the intersection of E. South Avenue and Washington Place for failing to maintain lane. After an investigation at the scene, Det. Spencer Durkin asked the driver, Angel Torres, 39, of Roselle to exit the vehicle.

Angel Torres refused to exit the vehicle, and began resisting arrest while being taken into custody. Further investigation revealed that Angel Torres was in possession of a large hunting knife, heroin, prescription pills, crack cocaine, and marijuana, according to the Cranford Police blotter.

A passenger, Luis Torres, 39, of Rahway was in possession of heroin and cocaine. Both Luis and Angel Torres were arrested, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance, according to the report.

Angel Torres charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute(Prescription Pills); Possession of a Weapon; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine and Heroin); Possession of Paraphernalia; Resisting Arrest and was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to maintain lane, and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police reported.

Other Cranford Police blotter items:

On Dec. 5 at 11:27 p.m.: A 2010 Honda was stopped at the intersection of E. South Avenue and Walnut Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy located a quantity of crack cocaine on the driver, Brian Pierre, 26, of Roselle. Additionally, Ptl. Handy located marijuana inside the vehicle.

Both Pierre and a passenger, Brianna Ford, 21, of Linden were arrested, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Pierre was charged with Possession w/ Intent to Distribute(Cocaine); Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia and also issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Dec. 7 at 6:56 p.m.: A 2006 Mazda was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road after the driver failed to utilize his directional signal. Following an investigation at scene, Ptl. Gregory Federici located marijuana inside the vehicle.

The driver, Piotr Dorobek, 24, of Elizabeth was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Dorobek was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to utilize turn signal, obstructed view, and having a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.

On Dec. 10 at 9:44 p.m.: A 2005 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for a cell phone violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Gregory Federici located cocaine and marijuana on a passenger, Jesse McQueen, 60, of Roselle.

McQueen was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine), processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for utilizing a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle.
