Little Free Library Opens In Cranford

A new Little Free Library has opened in Cranford and was honored as a 'Library of Distinction' by the Little Free Library Organization.

CRANFORD, NJ — Allison Tyler of Cranford opened a very beautiful and unique Little Free Library at 102 Centennial Ave. in Cranford on July 15.

The library is hand decorated with stained glass mosaics that Tyler created over the past few months.

On July 21, Tyler an email that her library was honored as a 'Library of Distinction' by the Little Free Library Organization, who charters all the registered Little Free Libraries around the world.

"It's an amazing organization that does great and necessary work for reading and literacy," Tyler said.

The way the library works, is people in the community can stop by and borrow any book they desire then return it when they are finished. Others can drop off books to rotate the selections as well.

"Our little library has been quickly embraced as their own by our generous community. So many people have stopped by, shared photos of their visit and their children reading, signed our guestbook, followed us on social media and donated tons of books for others to read. We are awed by and appreciative of the response!" Tyler said.

Tyler's library makes the fourth Little Free Library to open in Cranford. There are three other libraries to visit at 40 Manor Ave., 30 Bloomingdale and 95 Belmont Ave.
