Loaded Gun, Drugs Found Inside Car In Cranford On New Year's Day

Breaking: Three men from Cranford, Hillside and East Orange, were arrested on New Year's Day on weapon and drug charges by Cranford Police.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Cranford man was among three arrested after police found a loaded .45 Caliber Hi-Point semi-automatic handgun and a multitude of drugs inside a car on New Year's Day, police reported.

On Jan. 1, 2017 at around 3:38 a.m., Officer Jason D’Agostino stopped a 2007 Toyota in the area of Retford Avenue and Grove Street, after observing multiple motor vehicle violations.

During the stop, D’Agostino located the loaded .45 Caliber Hi-Point handgun inside the vehicle, along with cocaine and marijuana, according to Cranford Police.

The three men inside the car were arrested and transported to the Cranford Police Department.

The arrested are as follows:

  • Cheron Grannum, 23, Hillside
  • Tisean Rodwell, 29, East Orange
  • John T. Vicci Jr., 23, Cranford

Grannum was charged with Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Handgun for UnlawfulPurposes, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine), Possession of Marijuana(Under 50 grams), and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Rodwell was charged with Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Handgun for UnlawfulPurposes, Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g), and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Vicci Jr. was charged with Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Grannum and Vicci Jr. were processed and released on their own recognizance. Rodwell was transported to the Union County Jail in lieu of bail.

All three are scheduled to appear in Union County Superior Court.
