Loaded Gun, Open Bottle of Alcohol Found Inside Car in Cranford: Police
Two Essex County men were arrested after police found a loaded gun and an open bottle of alcohol inside their car in Cranford, police say.

CRANFORD, NJ — Two Essex County men were arrested on weapons charges after police found a loaded gun and an open bottle of alcohol inside their car in Cranford, authorities report.
Cranford Police Officer Daniel Donnerstag pulled over a 2007 Nissan in the area of Centennial Avenue and Wall Street on Saturday, Jan. 21 around 10:48 p.m., after seeing multiple violations.
During the stop, police found a loaded .22 Caliber USFA Zip Gun inside the car, according to the report.

A passenger in the car, Marod Wilcox, 23, of Newark was arrested on scene. The driver, Toynecher Jackson, 25, of East Orange was also charged during the course of a follow-up investigation.
Jackson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, and issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, failure to maintain lamps, failure to exhibit documents, and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Jackson is scheduled to appear in Union County Superior Court in February.
Wilcox was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, and transported to the Union County Jail. Following an initial court appearance, Wilcox was released from custody.
Cranford Police Detectives are working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to trace the origins of the weapon.
