Loaded Shotgun Found Inside Car In Cranford

Cranford Police also made arrests for marijuana and heroin possession and driving while intoxicated last week.

CRANFORD, NJ — A loaded shotgun was found inside a car during a traffic stop in Cranford, police report.

On Dec. 2 at 5:34 p.m., patrol units responded to the area of Cherokee Road, for a report of a suspicious motor vehicle. Ptl. Ryan Gerrity located a 2001 Honda upon his arrival.

Following an investigation at the scene, officers located a loaded shotgun inside the vehicle, according to police.

The driver, James Fey, 69,of Astoria, NY was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, processed, and issued a Superior Court Appearance, according to police.

On Nov. 28 at 11:57 a.m.: During the course of a Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Detail, a 2004 Hyundai was stopped at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Doering Way for failing to yield to a pedestrian. Following an investigation at the scene, by Ptl. Robert Chamra determined that the driver, Rodasia Crenshaw, 21, of Roselle provided him with a false name.

Crenshaw was arrested, processed, and charged with Hindering Apprehension and Contempt of Court after it was determined that she had active warrants out of Tinton Falls and Glen Ridge Municipal Courts. Crenshaw was released pending a Municipal Court Appearance.

On Nov. 28 at 7:44 p.m.: A 2002 Mercury was stopped at the intersection of Myrtle Street and Park Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag located marijuana on both the driver, Clauzenei DosSantos, 40, of Linden and a passenger, Tiago Andrade, 23, of Newark.

DosSantos and Andrade were arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Clauzenei was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to maintain lamps and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Nov. 29 at 7:33 p.m.: A 2002 Nissan was stopped at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and N. Union Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Joseph Scherbo located marijuana inside the vehicle.

The driver, Kelvin Vinan, 21, of Newark was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Vinan was also issued motor vehicle summonses for possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and failing to maintain lamps.

On Dec. 2 at 10:47 p.m.: Patrol Units responded to the area of N. Union Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Corey LoForte determined that the driver of a 1998 Dodge, Lori Hastings, 49, of South Plainfield was driving while intoxicated.

Hastings was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a friend pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Hastings was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, failure to submit to breath testing, careless driving, driving while suspended, failure to exhibit documents, and unsafe lane change.

On Dec. 2 at 10:47 a.m.: A 1998 GMC was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Brian Lopez located marijuana and prescription pills inside the vehicle.

The driver, Kelly Brunson, 42, of Linden and passenger, Wiley Mayfield, 30, of East Orange were both arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50 grams); Possession of Paraphernalia and Possession of Prescription Pills(Percocet), processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Brunson was also issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. A juvenile was also arrested in this incident, and subsequently turned over to a parent.

On Dec. 3 at 7:29 p.m.: A 2003 Mercedes was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Moen Avenue for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy arrested a passenger, Grace Landi, 30, of Carteret after she provided the officer with a false name.

Landi was arrested for Hindering Apprehension and Contempt of Court, processed, and subsequently turned over to Kenilworth PD on an active warrant. Landi was also issued a summons for failing to wear a seatbelt.

On Dec. 4 at 8:30 p.m.: A 2001 Acura was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag located Heroin inside the vehicle.

The driver, Fuqran L. Williams, 38, of Newark was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Heroin); Possession of Paraphernalia and Contempt of Court, processed, and released after posting bail on an active Cranford warrant. Williams was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, operating a motor vehicle with high beams activated, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
