Man Dead After Being Hit By SUV While Crossing Street In Union County: Police

The driver was not hurt.

LINDEN, NJ — A 63-year-old man was killed Thursday night after he was hit by an SUV, Linden Police said.

At around 8 p.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of E. Edgar Rd. for a report of a serious car crash.

Early reports show that the driver of a 2019 Dodge SUV was going north on Route 1 when they hit the man as he crossed the street, authorities said.

The man was left with serious injuries and was treated on scene. He was then taken to Newark University Hospital, where he later died.

The driver did not get hurt in the crash.
