Man Runs Away From Cranford Police During Traffic Stop

A Middlesex County man is wanted by the Cranford Police after running away during a traffic stop, according to police.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Middlesex County man is wanted by the Cranford Police after running away during a traffic stop, according to police.

On Nov. 14 at 10:20 p.m. Cranford Patrolman Jason D’Agostino stopped a 2004 Dodge at the intersection of W. South Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue for a seatbelt violation.

When the officer was notifying Central Communications of his location, the driver fled the vehicle on foot.

An investigation led by both Det. Derek Farbanec and Ptl. D’Agostino to identify the driver as, Frederick Visco, 37, of Metuchen, according to the blotter.

An initial search of the area by police did not result in locating Visco. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for Visco’s arrest.

On Nov. 16 at 10:57 p.m.: A 2014 Subaru was stopped when a random plate inquiry revealed the registered owner’s driver’s license was expired. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Corey Loforte located a glass pipe used to ingest cocaine inside the vehicle.

A passenger, David Mayes, 30, of Avenel was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine); Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court appearance.

On Nov. 21 at 1:50 p.m.: A 1998 Dodge was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag located marijuana inside the vehicle.

The driver, Andre Oliveira, 20, of Edison and a passenger, Cameron Hackett, 23, of Piscataway were arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance.

Oliveira was also issued motor vehicle summonses for having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to wear a seatbelt, and failure to maintain lamps.
