CRANFORD, NJ - The Township of Cranford turned 148 Thursday and the Cranford Police Department took a moment to celebrate.

On their Facebook page officials noted the establishment of the township on March 14, 1871. The photo they shared showed Eastman Street at North Avenue before the railroad tracks were raised.

The train station in the background, and the smoke stacks to the left from South Avenue, and the Potter/Chronicle Building where the Township Clock stands today.
