1 Person, 2 Dogs Dead Following Cranford Fire

Breaking: The fire early Saturday morning on Brookside Place left the home severely damaged and uninhabitable, police reported.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Cranford resident and two dogs perished in a fire that broke out early Saturday morning.

A passer-by called in the fire at a home located in the 400 block of Brookside Place shortly before 6 a.m.

Responding fire crews encountered heavy fire conditions in a single family dwelling and quickly initiated an offensive fire attack, Cranford Police Chief Ryan Greco reported.

The fire left the home severely damaged and uninhabitable, Greco said.

The Union County Fire Investigation unit responded to investigate the origin and cause of this fire.
