Pet Odor

One of our staffers has recently integrated a temporary third cat into her home, and the process is nothing if not full of the odors of stressed, territorial felines. They’ve done all the tricks, but nothing has stopped the original cats from marking their favorite spots in damp and unpleasant ways.

Luckily, your trusty Cranford PuroClean has some answers to cleaning up even the most distasteful aspects of pet ownership.

We have done a few jobs for pet odor decontamination. Usually, there are three reasons for this kind of service:

• To temporarily improve the smell of the home.

• To make a rental property smell good enough to rent.

When we decontaminate, we:

• Discard contaminated carpet cushion

• Use bio-enzymatic digesters or solvent/base/encapsalation-type odor counteractants -- most healthy urine has an acidic ph, which requires basic solutions to counteract the smell. Based on the ph of the urine, we specifically tailor the solution necessary to decontaminate.

Even if you don’t fall into these categories, your home may benefit from some of the techniques we use to decontaminate pet odor.

• Blacklight (UVA ultraviolet light) reliably detects areas or urine contamination

• In order to fully decontaminate, affected fabrics require professional care. However, you may have luck cleaning non-porous surfaces with natural cleaning agents like undiluted white vinegar.

• If you do feel the need to try to clean porous surfaces yourself, you can also spread baking soda over the area, let it sit for a few hours, and then vacuum.

Remember, as always, professionally trained technicians have the customized ph solutions, high intensity lamps, and moisture sensors necessary to fully and completely decontaminate affected areas.
