Photo Gallery: Hot Rods Line Downtown

Although clouds threatened in the morning, sunny blue skies emerged yesterday afternoon –  to the great relief of Chamber of Commerce Vice President Pete Baker.

"We thank God for weather like this because last year was terrible," he said, adding that three Cruiser Nights were rained out. "The guys won't bring out their cars in the rain."

Cruiser Night, a car show that took place on Alden Street and Miln Street starting at 5:30 p.m., exhibited shining Corvettes, Thunderbirds, Mustangs and other flashy cars. The event attracted more than 100 exhibitors and more than 500 people, Baker said.

Cruiser Nights are held every month from May until August by the Chamber of Commerce. Through this event, the Chamber hopes to attract a boom in foot traffic at the town center to benefit downtown businesses.
