Press Release: Cabaret Night Will Showcase CHS Talent

Funds raised at this year's event will subsidize classes, theater productions and residencies for student performers.

Friends of the Performing Arts Department at Cranford High School will be sponsoring their second "Cabaret Night: A Masquerade" on Oct. 29, 2011 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the upper gym at Cranford High School. The event will feature entertainment and dessert. The evening will be a collaborative performance effort by the entire CHS Performing Arts Department

Funds generated from last year’s Cabaret Night helped FOPA to subsidize the
refurbishing of the grand piano - a $20,000 endeavor- provide funds for a Vocal
Master Class, assisted with financing the Rising Star nominated production of
"Oklahoma!" and the purchase of new flags for the color guard. This year, FOPA
will again raise money to supplement the theater productions, marching band,
and master classes or residencies for our Performing Arts Program.

This year’s event will feature a Dessert Table. They are seeking restaurants,
stores and catering facilities to offer a taste of their dessert fare. Tables situated
around the room will feature the specialties of each facility. As the organization is projecting an attendance of 200 or more people, this will enable the community to be exposed to local delicacies and entertainment. You can contact Jennifer Love with questions about deserts at 908-693-1726.

A Tricky Tray will also be held throughout the event. FOPA is looking for business, corporate and private donations as well as reaching out to
organizations interested in supplying internship and/or mentoring programs
for current and graduating students. Questions about the Tricky Tray can be
directed to Shari Kopla at 908-419-7842.
