Red Light Violation Leads To Drug Arrest: Cranford Police

Asbury Park man charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 20-year-old Asbury Park man was arrested on a series of drug charges and issued motor vehicle citations after a traffic stop on Oct. 27, according to the Cranford Township Police Department.

According to officials, Patrolman Robert Chamra stopped Lamin Conteh in his 2005 Mazda on Raritan Road and Moen Avenue for failing to observe a red traffic signal.

Following an investigation at the scene, Chamra arrested Conten for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle, police said. Conteh was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana under 50g and Possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

He was processed and provided with a Superior Court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to observe a red traffic signal, suspended driver, obstructing traffic, careless driving, improper mirrors, no valid insurance card in his possession and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
