The Cranford Police Department is fought crime through community engagement by hosting the annual National Night Out Against Crime Tuesday.

CRANFORD, NJ - The Cranford Police Department is fought crime through community engagement by hosting the annual National Night Out Against Crime Tuesday.
The program at Patrolman Robert F. Hand Plaza and on the front lawn of the Cranford Police Department headquarters included numerous police and emergency vehicles will be on display, like marked police cars, command post truck, police motorcycle, emergency services unit utility vehicles, and equipment from the Union County Office of Emergency Management, New Jersey Transit Police Department, and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police Department. Public Safety personnel were also on hand to answer questions or demonstrate equipment.
Lieutenant Colonel Noble and Sergeant Spies of the New Jersey State Police also brought their new radio car.

National Night Out, a year long community building campaign, is designed to:
- heighten crime prevention awareness
- generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
- strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
