Rescued Bulldog Is In Desperate Need Of Help In Cranford
Bella, who was rescued and fostered by a Cranford local, is in need of donations for medical bills and a furever home.
CRANFORD, NJ — "Sweet, loving" Bella, a rescued foster dog, has had a very rough life and is in desperate need of help.
The 8-year-old American Bulldog Mix was rescued last week from New Brunswick right before the snowstorm by Cranford local, Chelsea Hoeffler.
"Once we got word of her neglect, I couldn't sleep at night knowing she'd spend another night alone through this snow storm," Hoeffler told Patch. "Her previous owners moved out and left her in the house alone, only returning to feed her every so often."

Bella was skin and bones when Hoeffler took her home. She was "the sweetest, most loving personality considering the neglect she has been exposed to."

Unfortunately, three days after bringing Bella into Hoeffler's Cranford home, she took a turn for the worst.
"She began having a reaction and after bringing her to the vet where she stayed over night, her prognosis is a lot worse than we could have imagined," Hoeffler said.
She is diagnosed with Immune-mediated thrombocytopenia, a condition where the dogs immune system attacks her own platelets. She also tested positive for Lyme's disease.
Hoeffler has been working very hard to help Bella come back to a healthy state.
"She is amazing with other dogs, kids and adults. She deserves to find a long-term foster or a forever home where she can live out the rest of her senior days," Hoeffler said.
Hoeffler, who fostered Bella through Emerald City Rescue, is unable to foster her for a very long time and is looking for someone to adopt her and also for donations to help with the mounting medical bills. So far the rescue has spent $2,000 in bills so far.
