River & Rail Cantina Hosts "Cranford Jam" To Benefit Families Affected By Cancer

Family event to benefit those affected by cancer

The Jam Kancer in The Kan Foundation will hold its inaugural fundraising event at River & Rail Cantina in Cranford on September 16th from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Thanks to the generosity of River & Rail, located at 230 South Avenue East, proceeds from the evening’s festivities will help families affected by cancer.

The Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation will offer 100 River & Rail VIP ticket for a $50 donation. The VIP ticket provides supporters a buffet of sliders, quesadillas, mini burritos, chimichangas and much more as well as two drink tickets good for house margaritas, wine and draft beer. In addition to the food and drink, all of which is being generously donated by River & Rail, there will be Kan Jam games for kids & adults with raffles/prizes offered, including Jets, Giants & Yankee tickets, a bicycle & two snowboards. Also on September 16th, River & Rail will debut “The Jammerita”, a commemorative drink comprised of 13 oz. Sauza Blue Tequilla, Agave, Fresh Lime Juice, Grand Marnier, mixed with homemade Sangria and loaded with fruit. A portion of all “Jammeritas” sold through September 23 will be donated to the Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation.

“We’re thrilled that the owners of River & Rail Cantina generously reached out to us to host an event on behalf of the Foundation and help raise funds to benefit local families dealing with a cancer prognosis”, said Jamey Crimmins, Co-Founder, Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation. “No-one wants to get that phone call that a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer and we are grateful for the platform to share the mission of the Jam Kancer In The Kan movement with our neighbors in Cranford and beyond”.

“We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and having the support of a true grassroots organization like Jam Kancer In the Kan means a great deal to a family in its time of need,” said John Roder, Co-Owner of River & Rail, “Jam Kancer In The Kan is an organization run solely by volunteers which allows all donations to go towards families fighting cancer. We are proud to host the foundation’s inaugural event in Cranford and invite the community to come support their efforts and truly make a difference for a family in crisis.”

Begun as a backyard activity in 2014, the Jam Kancer In The Kan Foundation has raised over $270,000 to benefit patients and families afflicted with cancer. Proceeds from last year’s Jam Kancer In The Kan Tournament were donated to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in support of the outstanding treatment of Scotch Plains resident, Kyle Brainard. This year’s tournament, the fourth annual, will be held September 23rd at Highland Swim Club in Scotch Plains.
