Road Repaving Continues in Cranford

Construction projects will be dotting Cranford through the early fall, as the Engineering Department concentrates on making improvements to the Crane Parkway, Willow Street and Holly Street. 

For residents, this also may mean some potential traffic delay, as repaving requires complete road closure. Installation of new curbs also requires that construction crews close one side of the road. 

• Retouching of the Crane Parkway will begin in about a week and a half. Crews will install some new curbs, install a new drainage system and repave the road. The total bid for this project comes to about $372,000, and crews will most likely finish the project in early October, Assistant Engineer Sandra Cardenas said.

• In the middle of September, contractors will top off improvements made to Willow Street with the planting of 10 new trees.

• Crews will be sprucing up Holly Street in early October late September, after awarding a contractor bid early the first week of that month. The street will be repaved, new sidewalk slates and curbs will be installed, along with "aprons" –  the pavement incline that leads up to the sidewalk slates in front of resident driveways, Cardenas said. She added that the construction will be concentrated from 200 feet past Oldman Avenue to about 400 feet past Eastman Street.
