School Put On Lockdown In Union Co. After Kids Talk Guns Over Video Chat, Police Say
A Facetime call led authorities to act at the middle school.
ROSELLE, NJ — An argument involving minors with guns on a Facetime video call led police to lockdown Grace Wilday Junior High School on Wednesday.
The lockdown was later revised to a shelter-in-place before officers were able to clear the grounds, Roselle Police said.
On Tuesday, three kids were participating in a Facetime group chat when images of guns were shared. Statements were also made that depicted one or more of the kids as having a gun, according to authorities.

Communications then suggested that they would confront each other at school on Wednesday.
Officers responded at around 11 a.m. to Grace Wilday, and put the school into lockdown as a precaution. No guns were found on school grounds or anywhere in the kids' possession.

No injuries were reported.
Parents and guardians of the two 13-year-olds and one 12-year-old were notified, and authorities are addressing the matter. Due to the individuals involved being minors, Roselle Police said no further information will be released.
