Seatbelt Stop Leads To Drug Arrest: Cranford Police

Alexander Guzman was arrested after a motor vehicle stop, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - An 18-year-old Avenel man was arrested and charged with possession of under 50g of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a motor vehicle stop on March 29, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to authorities Patrolman Brian Trotter stopped a 1994 Honda on South Union Avenue and Cherry Street for a seatbelt violation.

Following an investigation on scene, Trotter arrested a passenger, Alexander Guzman, for suspected marijuana found in his possession, police said.

He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, the driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for a seatbelt violation.
