Seatbelt Violation Leads To Drug Arrest: Cranford Police

Gabriel Pinho was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

CRANFORD, NJ - A traffic stop on Centennial Avenue led to an arrest and drug charges for a Colonia man on Oct. 21, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to officials, Patrolman Brian Trotter stopped 19-year-old Gabriel Pinho in his 1994 Honda on Centennial Avenue at the intersection of the Garden State Parkway 136 exchange for a seatbelt violation.

Following an investigation at the scene, Trotter arrested Pinho for suspected marijuana located on his person, police said. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, a seatbelt violation and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
