Social Media Comment Increases Police Presence At Cranford High

The move is being made out of an 'abundance of caution' officials said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A social media comment has prompted police to increase their presence at Cranford High School, according to Michele Cammarata, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent.

In a message sent out to the community Cammarata said a Cranford High School student received a "non-specific comment" via SnapChat. Cammarata said it did not involve a threat to any of the schools but that the school immediately reported the incident to the Cranford Police Department and they are actively investigating and working with the legal team at SnapChat and other social media providers to determine the source of the comment.

"Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at Cranford High School tomorrow,"Cammarata said.
