Staged Reading by The Theater Project - "The Franklins of Philadelphia" by Michael McGoldrick
Saturday, January 17, 2015, 2:00 p.m., Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue, Cranford, NJ 07016

The Theater Project will be present a staged reading of a new play, The Franklins of Philadelphia, by Michael McGoldrick. The Franklins of Philadelphia dramatizes the tormented relationship between Ben Franklin and his son William, who served as Governor of New Jersey and stayed loyal to the British during the Revolutionary War. The political merges with the personal as the pair battle not only over independence but also over who will win influence over William’s son, Temple. Spanning a time period of over twenty years, the play investigates the ideals that gave birth to our country, as well as analyzing the tortured interpersonal dynamics of one of our nation’s founding families. The Theater Project is an acclaimed, New Jersey-based professional theater group and the winner of two New Jersey Tony Awards. Following the reading, the play will be discussed by the audience, the director, the actors, and Mr. McGoldrick. Admission is free and all are welcome. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library.
