Temple Sha'arey Shalom Students Create Wimpels

Michelle Goldman and her son Nate Goldman work together to create a Torah binder or "wimpel" at Temple Sha'arey Shalom.

Michelle Goldman and her son Nate Goldman of Springfield work together to create a Torah binder or "wimpel" at Temple Sha'arey Shalom, Springfield, Religious School's annual fourth grade Wimpel Workshop. The children, working with their parents, create wimpels that are customized for them, including their Hebrew names, Jewish symbols and blessings and symbols of their current hobbies and interests. Each wimpel will be used as a Torah binder on the day of the child's Bar/Bat Mitzvah service three years from now and then will become a family heirloom.
