Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charge: Cranford Police

Scotch Plains resident arrested for and charged with possession.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 20-year-old Scotch Plains man was arrested and charged with possession after a traffic stop on Oct. 23, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to officials, Patrolman Timothy Handy stopped Anthony Caro in his 2005 Honda on North Avenue East and John Street after failing to signal a turn.

Following an investigation at the scene, Handy arrested Caro for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle, police said. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50g and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to signal a turn and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
