Two Charged With Drug Possession: Cranford Police

Karen Gasca and Luis Jerez were charged following a traffic stop, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 21-year-old Elizabeth woman and a 24-year-old Union man were charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia after a motor vehicle stop on Jan. 16, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to authorities, Patrolman Robert Charma stopped a 2008 Honda on Elizabeth Avenue and Van Buren Avenue for an inoperable headlight. Following an investigation at the scene, Chamra arrested the driver and a passenger, Luis Jerez and Karen Gasca, for suspected marijuana found inside the vehicle, police said.

They were processed and provided with Municipal Court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, delaying traffic and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
