Union County Police Blotter: Undercover Investigation

The following information was provided by the county of Union and the Union County Police Department.

March 8

  • During routine patrol on the Garden State Parkway at 1:52 p.m., Officer Richard Rijos observed a motor vehicle violation committed by a suspect identified as Damar Long of Linden. Once Officer Rijos initiated a motor vehicle stop, further investigation revealed that Damar Long had suspected marijuana in his possession. Long was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where he was fingerprinted and photographed. Long was charged with the possession of marijuana and for the motor vehicle violation. He was processed and released of his own recognizance pending a court appearance in Clark Municipal court.

March 9

  • During routine patrol on Hillside Avenue in Hillside at 2:49 p.m., Officer Giovanni Arlia observed a motor vehicle violation by Osvaldo Rosado. Once Off. Arlia initiated a motor vehicle stop further investigation revealed that Osvaldo Rosado, 23, of Elizabeth had suspected marijuana in his possession. Rosado also was wanted for outstanding warrants from Elizabeth and Clark. Rosado was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where he was finger printed and photographed. Rosado was charged with the possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and three motor vehicle violations. He was processed and transported to Elizabeth Police headquarters regarding the outstanding warrants.

  • While on routine patrol on Beechwood Court in Plainfield at 5:15 p.m. Cpl. Sean Dougherty and Officer Kenneth Matz observed three individuals sitting in a parked motor and smoking what appeared to be marijuana. Once the officers approached the vehicle they smelled marijuana. Further investigation revealed that all three individuals: Lewis Quashjan, 25; Sarah Joseph-Dullon, 20 and Kyheem Thompson, 21, all of Plainfield had suspected marijuana in their possession. All three were placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where they were finger printed and photographed. All three were charged with the possession of marijuana. Kyheem Thompson and Sarah Joseph-Dullon were processed and released on their own recognizance pending a court appearance in Plainfield Municipal court. Lewis Quashjan was wanted out of Somerset County Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding warrant.

April 1

  • While working in an undercover capacity and in an unmarked police vehicle on Bloy Street in Hillside at 2:36 p.m., Detective Richard Schubert observed David Boyce, 21, of Mountainside, sitting in his vehicle and allegedly acting suspiciously. Det. Schubert approached Boyce and determined he was in possession of suspected marijuana. Further investigation determined that Boyce also had in his possession a glass pipe and a hypodermic needle. Boyce was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where he was issued a criminal complaint and fingerprinted and photographed and released in his own recognizance pending a court appearance in Hillside Municipal court.
