Weekend Bulletin Board: Scarecrow Stroll, New Community Class Offerings

Cranford community briefs this week.

  • The Scarecrows are Coming

In downtown Cranford, there will be no crows anywhere in sight on Oct. 8, the day the third annual Scarecrow Stroll officially begins. The Downtown Management Corporation is expecting dozens upon dozens of scarecrows made by local business owners to emerge on the streets. Participants vote on their favorite creations – the DMC will award first, second and third-place prizes, according to a DMC press release.

Want to build a scarecrow for the competition? The application can be found on the DMC Web site. The registration deadline is Sept. 24.

Volunteers will begin setting up the scarecrows on Oct. 7. Voters can cast ballots from Oct. 8 through Oct. 25. For more information call the DMC at 908-709-7208 or e-mail dmc@cranfordnj.org
