Regional Health Officer To Discuss Coronavirus On Facebook Live
The town of Westfield will host the session with the regional health officer and others, live at 12:30 p.m.

WESTFIELD, NJ – March 12, 2020 – In order to address questions from the public regarding COVID-19, the town of Westfield will host a Facebook Live session on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Mayor Shelley Brindle will be joined by Town Administrator Jim Gildea, Regional Health Officer Megan Avallone, and Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro.
In addition to discussing the most recent updates on the issue, there will also be an opportunity for the public to ask questions, which can be submitted in advance at westfieldnj.gov/covid19update.

In advance of the Facebook Live session, Mayor Brindle released an update on
COVID-19, which covered the latest details about public health, available community
resources, and a full list of current activity cancellations through April 19. This
information can be found on the town׳s Coronavirus Online Resource Center.
Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that include the common cold as well as much more serious diseases. The strain that emerged in China in late 2019, now called COVID-19, is related to others that have caused serious outbreaks in recent years, including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the U.S. was on Jan. 21.
