New Reports Indicate That Whitney Houston Will Be Buried in Westfield

New information indicates that late pop singer will be buried alongside her father in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Entertainment website TMZ is reporting that, acoording to Houston's death certificate, the Newark native will be buried in Union County.

Earlier this week, Kara Whigham of Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, which is handling the funeral arrangements for the family, said a location for Houston had not been chosen.

A receptionist at Fairview Cemetery also stated that no arrangements had been made for Houston to be buried in the plot with her father, the late John Russell Houston, who died in 2003. However, the receptionist also indicated that "at the request of the family" the exact location of John Houston's gravesite will not be given out.

As of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Westfield Police Department could not confirm whether or not they had been advised that the late pop diva would be entombed at Fairview, or if additional patrols will be dispatched to the area during the private funeral on Saturday.

Houston's body was discovered on the afternoon of Feb. 11 in a bathtub in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, just hours before she was scheduled to attend a pre-Grammy Awards function. The official cause of death has not yet been released.

The late singer's body was flown from Los Angeles to Newark on Monday night. A hearse then transported Houston to the , where services for her father were held in 2003. It was initially thought that a public memorial service would take place at the Prudential Center in Newark. The family, however, has decided to hold private, invitation-only services this weekend at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where Houston sang as a child.
