Woman Jailed After Fleeing, Assaulting Officer: Cranford Police
Lori Parascando struck the officer with her car, police said.
CRANFORD, NJ - A 53-year-old Iselin woman was jailed after fleeing a motor vehicle stop and striking an officer with her can on May 24, according to the Cranford Police Department.
According to authorities, Detective Michael Dubitsky stopped a 2003 Chevrolet on North Avenue East and Carpenter Place for a seatbelt violation. While Dubitsky was speaking with the driver, Lori Parascando, she put her vehicle into drive and fled the scene, police said. As a result, Dubitsky’s arm was struck by the fleeing vehicle causing an injury, police said.
Following an investigation, Officers from the Patrol Division later arrested Parascando at her home in Iselin on an arrest warrant, police said. She was processed and provided with a Superior
Court appearance date and remanded to the Union County Jail pending a detention
hearing, police said.

Multiple motor vehicle summonses were issued including: a seatbelt violation, obstructing
traffic, failure to observe a red traffic signal, failure to keep right, improper passing, failure to keep right, reckless driving, careless driving, speeding, failure to signal a turn, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to report a crash, police said.
