1.6M Delivered To Repair Road Bordering South, East Brunswick
The funds will go towards repairs and installing a crucial drainage system to Dunhams Corner Road.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – The much-awaited funds for the Dunhams Corner Road project were delivered Thursday. Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) visited East Brunswick Community Arts Center to deliver $1.6 million for repairs and improvements to the road.
The road borders East and South Brunswick. East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen and South Brunswick Mayor Charlie Carley, along with their respective council members were present at the Community Arts Center.
A crucial drainage system will be installed on the road which is more than 40 years old. The funds are part of President Joe Biden’s $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill.

“As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I play an important role in deciding where and how the federal government spends its money,” Watson Coleman said. “It continues to be of the upmost importance that we invest in improving our infrastructure. Future generations will benefit from the forward-looking actions we take now.”
Under guidelines issued by the Appropriations Committee, each Representative may request funding for up to 10 projects in their community for the fiscal year 2022 — although only a handful may actually be funded.

"Grants like these allow us to do those improvements and alleviate the tax burden on our residents. This is why we work closely with our partners at the Federal, State, and County levels,” Cohen said.
The project will be done in conjunction with the path work scheduled between Crystal Springs and the Community Arts Center, Cohen had said in March.
Earlier this week, the New Jersey Department of Transportation announced it will begin roadwork on Route 18 by mid-September.
