One woman was killed and two other injured in a Newark blaze, and a man was struck and killed by a train in New Brunswick.

A 21-year-old Passaic man was stabbed multiple times during an early morning altercation in Paterson on Sunday.
Officers responded around 4:13 a.m. to Main Street and Broadway on reports of an aggravated assault and found a man with multiple stab and slash wounds.
The man told investigators he was leaving a speakeasy when an unknown number of men attacked him with a knife.

A North Jersey church was evacuated Sunday after a bomb threat prompted law enforcement to search the property, according to media reports.
Officers responded to North Jersey Vineyard Church on Phillips Avenue in South Hackensack around 1:20 p.m. after a caller threatened to detonate two explosive devices planted on vehicles outside the building if a set of demands were not met, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton told NJ.com. Bomb squad investigators searched the building and surrounding area before signaling an all-clear around 2 p.m.
Cureton said the threat was determined to be a hoax and an instance of swatting, the publication reported.
A fire killed a woman and injured two others in Essex County on Saturday. The fire took place at 282 Schley Street in Newark. The victim was pronounced dead at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. Two other people were injured and are in critical condition, authorities said.

A van passenger was killed Friday when the vehicle struck a disabled Mack truck parked on the shoulder of I-295 in Hamilton Township.
Daniel Carmelo, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries, according to New Jersey State Police, who are investigating the cause of the crash.

A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train at New Brunswick Station Sunday afternoon, according to media reports.
A Northeast Corridor Line train bound for Trenton struck the man around 2:15 p.m., NJ.com said. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died. None of the 557 passengers and crew aboard were injured, News12 reported. The train was canceled at New Brunswick.
