EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick Public Schools have been awarded a $63,700 Local Recreation Improvement Grant from the NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Senator Patrick Diegnan recently announced.
In its sixth year, this competitive grant program, which DCA administers, supports the improvement and repair of public school recreational facilities, municipal recreation centers, local parks and stadiums statewide.
The funding awarded to East Brunswick Public Schools will be used to install drainage infrastructure, repave a deteriorated asphalt playground surface, and repair sections of an aging asphalt walking path on the district’s school grounds, Diegnan said.
The improvements are intended to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall recreational experience for students and community members alike.
“Governor Mikie Sherrill, DCA Commissioner Jacquelyn Suárez, and their administrations are to be commended for continuing this outstanding program,” said Diegnan, D-Middlesex, who represents East Brunswick and New Jersey’s 18th Legislative District.
“Public recreation spaces and facilities — from playgrounds and walking paths to parks and athletic areas — play a vital role in supporting the health, wellness, and quality of life of residents of all ages,” he continued.
“This investment will help ensure East Brunswick students and families have safe, modern, and well-maintained recreational spaces to enjoy for years to come.”
