Bahal Leads Herrera In East Brunswick: Unofficial Results 2021
According to unofficial Middlesex County results, incumbent Dinesh Behal maintains a lead over opponent David Herrera.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — With one seat up for grabs in Town Council, two candidates — David Herrera (R) and Dinesh Behal (D) put up a close fight.
With 100 percent precincts reporting, on Wednesday morning, incumbent Behal maintained a lead over Herrera, according to Middlesex County results.

Behal: 6,742
Herrera: 6,571
Behal was appointed to the council seat left vacant by Sterley Stanley in February. For the Councilman, the most pressing issue is the redevelopment of the Route 18 corridor.
"To accomplish this redevelopment, a consistent governmental approach with prospective redevelopers is necessary. A redeveloper has now been designated and negotiations with property owners are underway," Behal told Patch.

Middlesex County officials said operational issues were reported to the Board of Elections when polls opened at 6 a.m. Officials said the problems were mainly due to connectivity issues, as election workers struggled to connect electronic polling books to the internet.

But the County-wide polling issues were resolved and voters were able to cast their ballots.
