Click It Or Ticket Stop Reveals Loaded Gun In East Brunswick

A Click-It-Or-Ticket stop for two men not wearing seat belts on Rt. 18 resulted in a loaded illegal handgun being found in the car.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — New Jersey's statewide Click It or Ticket campaign this past June was meant to create public awareness about the importance of wearing seat belts. But on June 1 in East Brunswick, a routine Click-It-Or-Ticket stop resulted in a loaded illegal handgun being found in the car, with hollow-point bullets as well.

At 10 a.m. on June 1, East Brunswick patrolman Matthew Egnasko, who was assigned to the Click It Or Ticket patrol, pulled over a car on Rt. 18 and Racetrack Road because the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts.

However, a search of the car revealed that the driver, Kurt Harris, 24, of Dunmore, PA, had in his possession an illegal .40 caliber handgun, loaded with seven hollow-point bullets. A follow-up searched found 12 more hollow-point bullets in the car, police said. Hollow-point bullets, or armor-piercing bullets, are illegal in New Jersey.
