Cocaine, Heroin Found In East Brunswick Traffic Stop, Police Say

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A Toms River man was found with heroin and cocaine during a traffic stop on Main Street in East Brunswick last month, police charge.

The man was pulled over on Main Street near Old Bridge Turnpike on Jan. 10. Police did not say why they initially stopped the car, but officers said they found heroin and cocaine in the vehicle. The Toms River man, Benjamin Buczek, 30, was also charged with having possession of a hypodermic syringe and resisting arrest. A female passenger in his car, Amanda Geist, 27, of East Brunswick, had an active warrant for her arrest out of Washington Township, NJ. Both were placed under arrest at the scene.

In other East Brunswick January 2019 police blotter news, a South Plainfield man, Anthony Austin, 23, was arrested by police after they said he led them on a brief car chase on Gage Road, University Road and Wellington Road on January 13. Police initially tried to pull him over after they said they saw him speeding and without headlights on on Gage Road that night. His car was finally stopped at the intersection of Wellington Road and Tompkins Road. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and eluding.

On January 14, Gabriel Tavarez, 23, of New Brunswick was pulled over in East Brunswick after police said they saw him use his cell phone while driving. Police said they found marijuana on him, enough to sell, officers said. He was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute.
