A Day Of Holiday Events Dec. 10 At East Jersey Old Town Village

Bring the kids for horse-drawn wagon rides, carolers, Hanukkah songs and Colonial crafts on Dec. 10 in Piscataway​.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A day of special holiday events will be held at the East Jersey Old Town Village in Piscataway from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10.

“Our residents are invited to take a trip back in time, from the sight of the Village’s beautifully decorated historic buildings to the feeling of a horse-drawn wagon ride,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “Children will love the crafts, and everyone can embrace different traditions through song and story. Bring your families and friends and join the celebration.”

Events taking place inside the Indian Queen Tavern:

Founders Day and Volunteer Recognition Ceremony: 1 to 2 p.m. Please join us as we link our past and future by recognizing all who have contributed to the history of the Raritan Valley.

Songs of Chanukah performed by Mary Roth: 2 to 3 p.m. Singer-songwriter Mary Roth will perform songs related to Hanukkah and other aspects of Jewish culture. Roth is an accomplished musician who will incorporate the dulcimer and the bouzouki in her performance. Roth will sing in Hebrew, Yiddish and English.

Christmas and midwinter stories told by Dave Emerson: 3 to 4 p.m. Enjoy winter stories on the center green, including anecdotes about the origins of holiday customs, the popularity of the Christmas tree, the Victorian "invention" of modern Christmas and tales about "the most wonderful time of the year."

Traditional Christmas carols performed by vocal quartet Spiced Punch: 4 to 5 p.m. The vocal quartet Spiced Punch will perform traditional Christmas carols, while costumed in reproduction 19th-century garb. The group performs on strings, recorders, tin whistles and concertinas.
