Dump Truck Runs Off Rt.9 In Middlesex Co., Fatally Striking Linden Man: Cops

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – A 59-year-old Linden man was killed Thursday morning when a dump truck left the road on Route 9 Sayreville and struck his vehicle, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Daniel Plumacker of the Sayreville Police Department said.
On Thursday, around 5:16 a.m., authorities responded to Route 9 South in the vicinity of 912 US 9 South, Parlin, NJ, following the report of a fatal crash.
On their arrival, authorities found a 2020 Kenworth dump truck and 2000 Ford Ranger.

The Ford Ranger was making a right turn into a gas station when it was struck in the passenger side door by the dump truck, authorities said. The driver of the Ford Ranger, Renan Perez, 59, of Linden, was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
According to initial investigation, the dump truck left the road and drove onto the grass area, striking the Ford Ranger while it was positioned on the driveway apron. The dump truck traveled after the impact and caused significant damage to the exterior area of the gas station, authorities said.
