East Brunswick Ordinance To Limit Speed On Main St. To 35 MPH
The speed limit will be enforced in both directions, from the southern East Brunswick Township line to Taft Place.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – On Monday, Council introduced an ordinance limiting speed on Main Street to 35 MPH.
The current speed limit on the street is 40 MPH.
The request for limiting speed on the road came from residents last year during one of the town halls held by Mayor Brad Cohen.

The Township’s Department of Planning and Engineering, with help from the East Brunswick Police Special Operations Unit, conducted a study and determined that Main Street met all qualifications to warrant the change.

Business Administrator Joe Criscuolo said the ordinance was a perfect example of how the public can ask the township for something and it would be done. However, the process did take time as the Township had to do a complete study.
Once the ordinance is adopted by the council, it will then be sent to the County and when officials receive a response, signages will go up.
