East Brunswick Girl Scout Donates Cookie Sale Money To Animal Shelter
Alexandra Gonzalez is the top cookie seller in her region, earning more than $1,000 this year. She could have kept the cash for herself.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — This East Brunswick teen, Alexandra Gonzalez, sure has a big heart: Gonzalez is a Girl Scout and, for the past two years, she's been the top Girl Scout cookie saleswoman in her region. This year, Gonzalez made a $1,000 cash profit from her cookie sales.
She could have kept the money for herself. But instead she gave it all to the New Beginnings animal rescue shelter in East Brunswick.
Gonzalez showed up last Tuesday at the shelter on Cranbury Road, with an entire truckload of much-needed animal supplies. Gonzalez spent her hard-earned money on many pounds of cat and dog food, gallons of Clorox bleach and other cleaning supplies and hundreds upon hundreds of paper towels and wee-wee pads. Not forgetting the shelter staff and volunteers, she also bought soda, water, Gatorade and snacks.

This is in addition to the "catio" Alexandra and her dad built for the animal shelter last year.
"Our cats really appreciate the opportunity to enjoy a safe, enclosed outdoor space," New Beginnings wrote on Facebook. "THIS GIRL SCOUT IS AMAZING! Thank you for being a caring, compassionate and generous young woman."
