East Brunswick Man Charged In Connection With Burglaries To Vehicles
In January, East Brunswick police received numerous reports of burglaries to vehicles. A man has now been charged.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man from East Brunswick was charged in connection with various burglaries to vehicles and shoplifting, police said Tuesday.
Richard B. Giehl, 30, was charged with five counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and two counts of shoplifting, police said.
In January, East Brunswick police received numerous reports of burglaries to vehicles. Based on initial investigation, police developed a suspect.

Around 2:44 p.m. on Jan. 18, Patrolman Sean Clayton responded to Walmart for the report of belated shoplifting. Police said the man ran out of the store with stolen goods. The backpack also contained social security cards and credit cards, authorities said. Video surveillance from Walmart revealed the suspect matched the profile of the man involved in the motor vehicle burglaries, police said.
On Jan. 22, around 3:20 p.m. Patrolman Clayton found the same man walking along Old Bridge Turnpike, wearing identical clothing. Giehl was then arrested and charged.

The incident remains under investigation, and may result in additional charges, police said.
