East Brunswick Man, 80, Killed In Rt. 1 Crash
He was killed as he was pulling out of the Walmart on Rt. 1, and slammed into by another driver running a red light, police said.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — An East Brunswick man was killed late Friday night in a crash on Rt. 1 north in North Brunswick Township, North Brunswick police announced Monday. Wen-Fu Lin, 80 years old, of East Brunswick was killed as he was pulling out of the Walmart on Rt. 1, and his Chevy Malibu was slammed into by a woman driving a BMW and allegedly running a red light, police said.
The crash happened early Saturday morning, Sept. 22, at 2:12 a.m. North Brunswick police were dispatched to Rt. 1 north and Fashion Plaza Drive for a reported motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, police discovered a serious crash involving two cars.
Police said their early investigation reveals that a 2007 BMW X3 traveling south on Rt. 1 disregarded the red traffic signal, drove through the intersection and struck the 2016 Chevy Malibu driven by Lin, on the driver's side of that vehicle. Lin had been just pulling out of the Walmart shopping center, police said.

Lin died on the scene. The other driver is Elizabeth Gomez, a 42-year-old woman from Paterson, NJ. No charges have been filed at this point as the investigation continues, North Brunswick police told Patch.
All the other passengers involved were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The collision is still under investigation by North Brunswick Police Traffic Investigators. Anyone with any information should contact them at 732-247-0922 x316.
