East Brunswick: Man Who Chased Boy Off Bus Not Suspicious
A man who allegedly chased an East Brunswick boy after he got off a school bus this past Monday turned out to be not suspicious.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man who allegedly chased an East Brunswick boy after he got off a school bus this past Monday turned out to be not suspicious, East Brunswick police announced Thursday.
The alarming incident happened on Monday, Oct. 1 of this week: The boy told police that immediately after he got off the school bus at 2:30 p.m. on Willow Street between Arthur and New streets in East Brunswick, a man approached him and asked what his name was. When the boy did not answer, and instead ran away, the man started chasing him, the boy said.
The man gave up the chase in the area of New Street. He was last seen walking on Old Bridge Turnpike. However, after getting tips from area residents, that man has now been located by police. He is visiting from another country and has family in the area.

"The incident has been deemed a misunderstanding," East Brunswick police said in a statement. "Once advised of the situation, the suspect fully cooperated with the investigation and this incident is no longer considered suspicious. Chief James Conroy and the East Brunswick Police Department would like to thank the public’s response by helping to identify the suspect so quickly. The numerous tips the department received were critical in resolving this incident."
