EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen has launched a campaign for unity in the township called ‘Count To 10.’
The campaign, inspired by President Joe Biden’s call for unity in his inaugural address, hopes to discourage people from posting derogatory and inflammatory remarks on social media.
“Before you answer a social media post, count to 10. Before you post a meme that is nasty, derogatory or inflammatory to a group, person, organization, political party etc., count to 10,” Cohen said.

During his inaugural address on Jan. 20, President Biden emphasized on the need for unity to be able to tackle larger issues like COVID-19, job losses, racial justice etc.
"While our leaders may call us to a higher purpose, the road starts locally,” said Cohen.
“President Biden called for unity... I have always believed that great leaders call upon its citizens to rise to the challenges of the times. They stand as a beacon and provide a vision of a better world and more just society,” he said.
