East Brunswick Mayor Mourns Loss Of Economic Development Officer
Kenneth Armwood died Monday at age 46. Armwood was an "integral part of the township," said Mayor Brad Cohen.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Kenneth Armwood, East Brunswick’s Economic Development Officer died Monday morning. Mayor Brad Cohen informed East Brunswick residents and business community of Armwood’s passing in a statement.
Armwood, 46, was also Middlesex County Commissioner Deputy Director.
“Kenny had become such an integral part of the township since assuming his position about a year ago,” said Cohen.

“His big personality and warm disposition made him such a magnet for friends and strangers alike. He had the biggest heart that touched so many people around him.”
Cohen said that Armwood "was just hitting his stride” as he found the “perfect role for his talent and skills,” as the township’s Economic Development Officer.

“I can safely say that East Brunswick was certainly his second home after his native, Piscataway,” said Cohen.

A lifelong resident of Piscataway, Armwood was elected to the Piscataway School Board as a 19-year-old and served on the town council from 2004 to 2013.
He was named County Commissioner Deputy Director in 2020.
“In his role as the Deputy Commissioner for Middlesex Board of County Commissions, he was able to extend his reach beyond East Brunswick and even the county,” said Cohen.
“Kenny truly lived and breathed the role and responsibility of a public servant.”
The township of Piscataway mourned Armwood’s loss in a Facebook post. Sheriff Mildred S. Scott called Armwood's passing "a devastating tragedy for all of Middlesex County.”
Cohen said that everyone who "had the pleasure of knowing Kenny” understand and appreciate that “we were all part of his family.”
“In the end, it was his maker that called him back, as God must have a higher purpose for this noble and gracious servant.”
