EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Planning Board will meet Wednesday to consider the application from Sadhu Vaswani Center, a Hindu temple in East Brunswick.

The temple is located on Ryders Lane and Perry Road. They propose to demolish the existing structure and three residential homes on 4, 6 and 8 Perry Road.

The temple plans to build a two-story, 16,133 square foot place of worship and a two-story nursery school, measuring 7,031 square feet.

Many Township residents have opposed the temple's expansion plan citing traffic concerns and the size of the proposed buildings. The property is located in the R3 residential zone.

The temple recently submitted revised expansion plans which significantly reduced the height of the project. However, the ground plan was increased to accommodate a worship center and nursery school building.

The revised plan includes a stormwater management and storage system, a parking lot with 75 parking spaces, and landscape and lighting plans.

The meeting will be held virtually over Zoom at 7:30 p.m. Click here to join the webinar. Passcode: 414911
