East Brunswick Police Searching For Man Who They Say Robbed A Gas Station

Police say the man stole cash and cigarettes, then slashed the tires of gas station customers before fleeing.

East Brunswick police are asking for the public’s help in their search for a man who they say robbed a Route 18 gas station.

Around 2:15 p.m. Feb. 21, the man went into the officer of the interior kiosk at the Sunoco Gas Station on Route 18 north, near Rues Lane, police said in an alert.

The man showed a knife, then stole cash and Newport cigarettes, police said.

He then slashed the tires of two customers’ vehicles, got into a flatbed tow truck and fled northbound on the highway, police said.

He was described as white or Hispanic, in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He wore a black jacket, dark jeans, construction boots and a black skull cap.

The flatbed was not carry any vehicles. It had a dark or black cab with a “flat” front, police said.
