East Brunswick Public Library Serves Up “Stories from NJ Diners"

Diner experiences—good food, slice-of-life encounters with friends and strangers, and the memories they inspire—reflect the state's spirit.

New Jersey is nicknamed “the Diner Capital of the World.” Author Michael C. Gabriele explores the importance of diners in the upcoming program “Stories from New Jersey Diners” at the East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 pm.

For more than 100 years, diners have played an important role in New Jersey’s history as gathering places for a community. Diner experiences—good food, slice-of-life encounters with friends and strangers, and the memories they inspire—reflect the state’s spirit, culture and mythology.

The program is based on Gabriele’s latest book, Stories from New Jersey Diners – Monuments to Community. This is his fourth book on local history and his second book about the Garden State’s diner business, all published by Arcadia Publishing/The History Press.
