East Brunswick Man, Woman Charged For Abandoning Dog At Old Bridge Home Depot
The couple abandoned their dog last Friday in the parking lot of the Rt. 9 Home Depot, police said. The dog tried to follow them.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man and woman from East Brunswick were charged after they abandoned their dog in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Rt. 9 on May 26, Old Bridge Police said.
The couple has been identified as James T. Cash and Melissa M. Delaney. They were both charged Thursday with abandonment of animals and cruelty to animals, police said.
The dog was covered in dry feces and tried to follow the couple as they walked through the store; they ran away from her, said police.

The couple abandoned the young female dog around 6:30 p.m. on May 26.
"Then, they entered the Home Depot and the dog followed them in. You can see them here running away from the dog inside the store. The dog was wearing a red harness and covered in dry feces ... Later, the dog’s empty crate was found in the parking lot – also covered in dry feces," Old Bridge police said

The man and woman were driving a black Ford truck, which was pulling a black Griffin trailer.
As of Friday, June 2, the dog is doing well "and is being cared for much better than she had been while in their care,” Old Bridge Police said. The dog is not available for adoption.
