East Brunswick Shows Appreciation For Lifeguards At Crystal Springs
Lifeguards and staff from Crystal Springs Water Park were presented with a Mayoral Proclamation and a Joint Legislative Resolution.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Crystal Springs Water Park is one of the most popular destinations in Central Jersey. And summer time is extremely hectic with lifeguards and staff trying to keep guests safe while providing the highest quality of service.
During the last Council meeting, the Township presented the staff with a Mayoral Proclamation along with a Joint Legislative Resolution from Sen. Patrick Diegnan and Assemblymen Sterley Stanley and Robert Karabinchak.
“We want to recognize what you do every day. The public doesn’t understand the tasks and responsibilities that you face, and some of the difficulties that go along with it,” said Councilwoman Dana Zimbicki, who serves on the township’s Recreations and Parks Advisory Board.

Zimbicki noted that the number one priority for lifeguards and staff at Crystal Springs was to keep guests safe. But the staff isn’t appreciated, as often people post comments on social media that are unfavorable. “Just remember, that’s the minority,” Zimbicki said.
She hoped the lifeguards come back next year and join the team at Crystal Springs.

Mayor Brad Cohen noted that the number of trained first responders across most towns is very small. And while many could have gone out and got other jobs, they chose to come to Crystal Springs to help guests.
“I know this summer has been a challenge. It’s always a challenge when you’re dealing with the public, but you behaved honorably and you did what you had to do at times when it was required,” Cohen said.
“On behalf of the entire township, we couldn’t be more proud and appreciative of the fact that you gave your time.”
The Joint Legislative Resolution was given to the team “in appreciation of their extraordinary dedication to providing a safe recreational environment for all visitors; … to prevent potential tragedies and allow guests to enjoy summer activities in a safe and inclusive environment..."
